User Types
DataReportive employs a role-based access control system, where each user is assigned a specific role (also referred to as a user type). These roles determine the level of access and the actions a user can perform within the platform. Understanding the different user types is crucial for effective team management and data security.
Administrator
Admins have full access to the entire DataReportive platform. They can create, edit, and schedule reports and dashboards, as well as manage data sources. In addition, only admins can add users and groups to the platform and configure permissions for users and groups on individual reports and dashboards.
Normal user
Normal users have restricted access within the DataReportive platform. They can view reports and dashboards only if they have been granted explicit access or have been included in a scheduled delivery for specific reports or dashboards. Normal users cannot modify reports or dashboards, create new schedules, or manage other users or groups.
You should assign the Normal User role when you want someone to view reports or dashboards—for example, when sharing insights internally with team members who do not need editing or administrative permissions.
Viewer
Restricted users do not have permission to log in to the DataReportive platform to view reports or dashboards. This role is useful when you want to send scheduled reports to people who only need to receive the reports by email and do not require platform access. It's ideal for sending reports to customers or external stakeholders who are not part of your organization.
Note that DataReportive does not allow reports to be sent by simply entering an email address—you must define a Restricted User to deliver reports to someone outside your team.
The specific permissions associated with each role may be customizable by administrators depending on your DataReportive plan. Refer to your organization's settings for the exact permissions of each user type.
